Welcome to the other Savannah Tennessee! Not only is it known as the Catfish Capital of the World, Savannah also offers a variety of site seeing and attractions within the city and surrounding areas.
Are you interested in history and the Civil War? If so, be sure to stop by the Tennessee River Museum located in downtown Savannah. There you will find exhibits of prehistoric times, the Civil War, and discover the tragic story of the Trail of Tears.
The Cherry Mansion was built here in the 1830’s. It is there where Grant received the news about the Battle of Shiloh and it became the temporary headquarters for Grant during this time. It is also said that the mansion is haunted. Union General Wallace suffered serious wounds and died in the mansion.
After viewing the mansion, take a 12 mile drive to the Shiloh National Military Park. Embark on a tour of the famous battlefield. Before you leave, go by the visitors center and browse the war memorabilia they have neatly displayed in glass cases.
Do you like being on the water? Head down to the Pickwick Landing State Park, home of the Pickwick Belle. Ride the authentic steamboat on a 2 hour tour. While having dinner in its 1000 ft dining room, experience the beautiful landscape of the Pickwick Dam.
